Whenever I do spiritual direction and someone happens to tell me that they feel compelled to clean out their closets, I always ask how this is connected to their spiritual journey.  We inevitably find that there is also some "closet cleaning" going on in the soul.  The home we create is often a reflection of what is going on within us.  It is helpful to explore one's surroundings and discover the meaning beneath what we create around us.  

Going Home is a retreat for individuals or groups who wish to explore the fullness of creating a home, both spiritually and physically.  With the guidance of Teresa of Avila, the 16th century Spanish mystic who wrote The Interior Castle, retreatants discover the journey within and the gift of living into that creative vision within the home.   Join us in this spiritual journey from your own home, setting aside sacred time for prayer, reflection, and spiritual discernment.  Discover the spiritual movement that takes place in the creative work of making the home a  place of beauty and peace.  Practical suggestions will be given for using your creative energy to reflect who you are and how you live and move and have your being.  Home is the place we go out from and then find refuge in upon returning.  Find refuge in your home and in your soul as you create them both with an attitude of prayer.

 

Participants receive materials for observance of the Monastic prayer hours, reflections on the writings of Teresa, personal spiritual direction, and interaction with other retreatants.
